Jumeirah Islands lake works update

In the interest of resident awareness and continued transparent communications, Nakheel Asset Management and Design (NAMAD) would like to advise residents of the status of the lake improvement works.

The recent issues faced with the lakes are as a result of interruptions to the fresh sea water supply feeding the lakes. The infrastructure runs from Jumeirah Islands under Sheikh Zayed Road and emerges at a sea side pumping station, due to road and infrastructure upgrades outside of Jumeirah Islands damage was sustained but has now been rectified. There are numerous stakeholders involved in the lake infrastructure and the logistics can be difficult when issues are encountered.

NAMAD is facilitating works with all relevant stakeholders who are actively assisting in improving lake quality. There is an extensive 48 day lake rectification program underway and fresh sea water is currently flowing into the lake system; the increased salinity will naturally eradicate the algal blooms with time. You should note considerable improvement over the coming weeks.

Simultaneously, upgrades to the internal lake pipe infrastructure and the increasing of pumping station capacities are being investigated to further assist in improving the overall internal circulation within the lake system.

Periodic water quality testing is being conducted by environmental specialists and data shows constant positive improvement indicating a decline in nutrient levels and a required increase in salinity which will collectively address the algae recently experienced.

Should you seek further assistance with the matter please do not hesitate to contact NAMAD on 800-6267 or nam@nakheel.com.
